Visual Arts

In the Visual Arts, DeLand features a number of fine art museums, mural walks and sculpture walks as well as numerous shops and restaurants with visual art works for sale. Jewelry, paintings, sculptures, and mixed media works and decorative arts are available almost everywhere.

The AAMA is a not-for-profit arts facility dedicated to promoting multicultural artistic excellence and providing educational, historical and cultural opportunities to all ages, specifically the African American community, in visual, literary and performing arts while encouraging interaction with the community through on-site and outreach exhibitions, presentations and historical research.

DeLand Sculpture Walk

Originating in 2010, the DeLand Sculpture Walk is an on-going collaborative effort between the City of DeLand and the Museum of Art - DeLand. The artwork changes every year or two and features a variety of styles and mediums. Videos of past exhibits can be seen on the Happenings Page under Past Happenings. Brochures of the current exhibit with a map for self-guided tours are available at either Museum of Art location or the Visitor Information Center at 116 West New York Avenue. The Homer and Dolly Hand Art Center is a 5,000 square foot facility on the campus of Stetson University designed to house and exhibit the University’s extensive art collection. The Art Center serves to inspire lifelong learning and to enrich the community by promoting a critical reading of art as it shapes our cultural and intellectual history.

DeLand University's name was changed in 1889 to honor hat manufacturer John B. Stetson, a major benefactor of the university. Erik Blome's commissioned sculpture was installed on Palm Court in 2019.

The Volusia County Courthouse, opened in 2001, features 76 pieces of public art. The artwork was purchased in 2001 and 2004 to celebrate the courthouse’s opening and expansion. The courthouse is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Security Screenings are required upon entering the building.
